Health Canada advises that over time, protection from COVID-19 vaccines can decrease. Booster doses trigger your immune system to make more antibodies, which can increase the immune response and help improve protection against COVID-19. Staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, will help protect you from severe COVID-19 disease.

COVID-19 Vaccination Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my COVID-19 vaccination at the same time as my flu shot?

When booking your appointment for COVID, you’ll need to book another appointment for your Flu shot as well but both can be done at the same time. When showing up for your appointment, please arrive at the earlier appointment. For more information on the Flu Shot, please see our Flu Shot page.

Can I get the COVID-19 vaccination if I have recently tested positive for COVID-19?

No. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 it is recommended that you wait at least 3 months before receiving the vaccine.

Can I bring my children to be vaccinated?

Yes, however each child over the age of 5 needs to have their own appointment time booked. For children under 5 years-old, please contact your family doctor or one of the AHS public health clinics.

Will you accept walk-ins?

Walk-ins will be accepted based on pharmacist and vaccine availability. Walk-ins may also experience longer wait times. Appointments are strongly recommended. If you have questions about walk-in availability or wait-times, please call us at (587)353-5303.
