Influenza (the flu) can affect everyone, making it essential to protect your family by getting vaccinated. At Copperfield Pharmasave, we’re here to assist you. The flu shot is the most effective way to reduce your chances of contracting the virus and spreading it to those at higher risk in our community. Our pharmacy offers a convenient and welcoming environment for your flu shot, thanks to our friendly and supportive team.

Vaccinating children can sometimes be challenging. While we strive to make the process as smooth as possible, there are ways you can help ease any anxiety. Check out You and Your Child — Coping with Vaccine Anxiety; a blog post by Pharmasave, for helpful tips and tricks to support your child during their vaccination.

Flu Shot Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my flu shot and COVID-19 shot at the same time?

Yes, you can receive both vaccines during the same visit, but you’ll need to schedule separate appointments. Please arrive for your earlier appointment. For more details on the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit our COVID-19 vaccination page.

Can I bring my children to be vaccinated?

Absolutely! Each child over the age of 5 must have their own appointment. For children under 5, please contact your family doctor or an AHS public health clinic.

Will you accept walk-ins?

Yes, walk-ins are welcome based on the availability of pharmacists and vaccines. However, please be aware that walk-ins may experience longer wait times. We strongly recommend making an appointment. If you have questions about walk-in availability or wait-times, feel free to call us at (587)353-5303.

Does the seasonal flu vaccine really work?

Yes, the flu shot protects up to 60% of healthy individuals from the virus. Those who do contract the flu after vaccination typically have milder symptoms. It takes up to two weeks for the vaccine to become effective so if you catch the virus during that time, you won’t be protected.

When should I get vaccinated?

You can receive your flu shot anytime during flu season from November to April. However, we recommend getting vaccinated early to ensure you’re protected before peak infection times. Ask one of our Pharmasave pharmacists for the best timing for your flu shot.

Is there any risk involved in getting a seasonal flu shot?

The benefits of vaccination far outweighs any risks. Serious allergic reactions are extremely rare. Most experience no side effects, though some may notice soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site. Importantly, a flu shot cannot cause the flu as it does not contain any live virus.
