Not ready for Ozempic?
Not ready for Ozempic? Maybe there is a natural health option, available without a prescription, that suits you better.
Ozempic (semaglutide) is a prescription medication used to manage type 2 diabetes and aid with weight loss. While the following suggestions do not replicate the mechanism of action of semaglutide, they are natural health products some may consider an alternative to Ozempic:
- Berberine: this supplement activates an enzyme called AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which can improve glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, making it a potential alternative for people with type 2 diabetes.
- Cinnamon: this spice contains compounds that may improve insulin function, helping the body process glucose more effectively. It’s available as a supplement but you can also add it to your diet (such as in smoothies or oatmeal).
- Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA): ALA may help improve the body’s ability to use glucose and protect against oxidative stress, a factor in diabetes complications.
- Fenugreek: The fiber in fenugreek may slow the absorption of sugars and help reduce the spikes in blood glucose after meals.
Each of these supplements can potentially support blood sugar control and weight management, but they do not replicate the precise effects of Ozempic. Always check with your healthcare provider before incorporating these supplements into a treatment plan, especially for those with diabetes or metabolic conditions.
