Travel Vaccinations

Are you going on the trip of a lifetime?

Protect yourself from diseases that could last a lifetime!

We want you to enjoy your vacation and have some peace of mind knowing you have done what you can to help prevent catching an infectious disease.

That is why a couple of our pharmacists have done special continuing education in order to provide travel health consultation services. The ideal time to have a consultation is at least 6 to 8 weeks before you travel to allow time to receive necessary vaccines, so try not to wait until the last minute.

We will ask you to fill out a Travel Health Intake Form that asks you about what vaccines you have already received and where you are headed (your destination). At a sit-down appointment with one of our pharmacists, we will go over what vaccines are recommended or required for your destination. Examples of vaccines you may need include hepatitis A vaccine, typhoid vaccine, and hepatitis B vaccine among others.

We can provide your necessary vaccines here at the pharmacy as our travel health pharmacists are also Certified Injection Pharmacists. And if required we can provide suggestions to your doctor for prescription anti-malaria medications and antibiotic traveler’s diarrhea medications. We will also give you advice on avoiding travelers’ diarrhea (safe handling of food and water), tips for travelling at high altitudes, and other advice on staying safe while travelling.

To meet your other travel needs we carry a selection of items including:

  • mosquito netting
  • insect sprays
  • sunscreens
  • first aid kits
  • motion sickness remedies
  • insoles for your hiking boots
  • and more…

Some countries require proof that you are vaccinated against Yellow Fever, and you can only receive this vaccine in certified centers.  We are pleased to announce that as of Summer 2017 we are a recognized, certified Yellow Fever Vaccination Center.

Felicity and Jeff have provided travel consults for people traveling to places such as China, Southeast Asia, and various parts of Africa, but also closer destinations like Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Please call us today to book an appointment to make sure you are protected: 250-494-7088

Please note that the Provincial government does not pay for most travel-related vaccines.  Some private insurance plans may pay for the vaccines and we can either bill them directly or provide you with an “Official Prescription Receipt” so you can submit it to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Consultation fees do apply and we will provide an Invoice for our service in case your medical insurance company pays for Pharmacist cognitive services.
