Medication Compounding

A compounding pharmacy specializes in making medications that are not commercially available. Before drug manufacturers, pharmacists used to prepare medication from scratch that were tailors to each patient. With the rise of drug manufacturing, there was a huge decline of compounding in pharmacies.

However, some patients may still need compounded medication. With a compound prescription, you get the most effective treatment, delivered in the most appropriate or convenient dosage form.  A Pharmasave Pharmacist can make flavored suspension for children, creams and gels for the skin, as well as all the familiar pills, capsules, suppositories, etc. We use state-of-the-art equipment that ensures we can compound medication that meets your specific needs. The possibilities are endless!

At Pharmasave City Square, our Pharmasave Pharmacists are able to work with you to provide solutions for challenges such as

  • Stomach upset when taking oral medication
  • Reluctance to take the medication due to its taste
  • Route of administration issues (e.g. difficulty swallowing pills)
  • Allergy, sensitivity, or other aversion to ingredients such as flavors or dyes, lactose, sugar, alcohol, gluten, or casein.
  • Requiring a different dose of medication than that which is available from a manufacturer
  • Difficulty keeping track of multiple medications
  • Patients who need a medication that has been discontinued by the manufacturer
  • Patients who don’t want to take medication at all, especially children or pets

Pharmasave City Square utilizes the compounding standards set by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) to ensure that we follow strict quality control standards. Our pharmacists have also gone through extensive training so you can rest assure that you’re being taken care of properly.
