COVID 19 Vaccinations

Who is eligible to receive a vaccine?

Pharmasave pharmacies are currently able to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to:

  • All Albertans born in 1956 or earlier
  • First Nations, Metis, and Inuit (FNMI) people aged 50 and older
  • Staff and senior residents of licensed supportive living facilities
  • Individuals 58 to 64 years of age (born between 1963 and 1957) with high-risk health conditions including cancer patients, transplant recipients, and individuals with disabilities, dementia, and other conditions that put them at higher risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19. More specific information on each underlying health condition, including examples, is available on the Government of Alberta website.

A portion of Phase 2D individuals will now be eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine:

  • There are approximately 175,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine that will become available to pharmacies beginning sometime during the week of April 5.
  • Albertans aged 55 to 64 without chronic conditions.  (Those with chronic conditions fall within Phase 2B and should receive Pfizer or Moderna vaccine)

Eligibility will be confirmed before vaccination. Pharmasave pharmacists are unable to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to ineligible patients even if they have an appointment.

Pharmasave is aware of the evolving situation with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Further investigation is taking place by stakeholders and we continue to follow the guidance of Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), and jurisdictions across Canada.
