Cleanout that Cabinet!

When was the last time you cleaned out your medicine cabinet?

It is very important to check expiry dates and to discard of all outdated medications or those that show signs of breaking down. Just like food, medications spoil over time. Old ASA (eg., AspirinĀ®) and acetaminophen tablets that are ready to be thrown out may smell of vinegar and liquid medication may become discolored. The last thing you want is to take an expired medication and then end up with more symptoms than relief. If the expiration date isn’t clear, mark it with a sticky note or keep a paper record taped to the inside of your cabinet.

But don’t throw medications in the garbage! For a safe, responsible and environmentally friendly solution, you can take your unused or expired medications to your local Pharmasave for disposal.

Pharmacists are trained medication experts and have the tools and knowledge to dispose of medications safely.

As always, if you have any questions, speak to your Pharmasave Valleyview pharmacist today.
