Duties
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently while adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide medication counseling to patients, ensuring they understand their treatment plans and potential side effects.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to optimize patient care through effective medication management
- Monitor patient medication therapies for effectiveness, safety, and adherence, making necessary adjustments as required.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation related to medication administration and patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about medications, including proper usage, storage, and potential interactions.
- Participate in clinical rounds and contribute to interdisciplinary team discussions regarding patient treatment plans.
- Stay current with developments in pharmacotherapy, including new medications and treatment protocols.
- Offer medication reviews, MACS, injections/vaccinations, and Rx/OTC consultations in a professional and friendly manner.
- Ensure pharmacy assistants and pharmacists follow proper policies and procedures for receiving, handling, compounding, and dispensing medications
- Ensure inventory is managed efficiently
- Keep accurate inventory of narcotics
- Promote healthy and trusting relationships with clients
- Create policies and procedures to enhance patient care and to increase efficiency in the dispensary
Qualifications
- Valid pharmacist license with College of Pharmacists of BC.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care while adhering to ethical standards in pharmacy practice.
- Friendly and kind to both coworkers and clients
- Injection certification
- First Aid/CPR
- OAT certification
- Proficiency with Kroll
