General Information

The active ingredients that give heal-all its medicinal qualities are found in the leaves and shoots of the plant.

Heal-all can be applied to the skin (topically), taken by mouth, or used as a gargle/rinse. The usual dose of heal-all for each use is:

  • topical: 32 g of dried shoots and leaves prepared as an infusion. To safely use, pour 475 mL (1 pint) of boiling water over 32 g (1 ounce) of dried or powdered shoots and leaves, infuse for 10 minutes and strain. Then apply to affected area(s) as needed.
  • oral: 28 g to 32 g of dried shoots and leaves per day. Pour 475 mL (1 pint) of boiling water over 32 g (1 ounce) of dried or powdered shoots and leaves, infuse for 10 minutes and strain. Alternatively, an extract can be prepared using 0.75 g to 3 g of dried shoots and leaves per day.
  • gargle or rinse: 32 g of dried shoots and leaves prepared as an infusion. Pour 475 mL (1 pint) of boiling water over 32 g (1 ounce) of dried or powdered shoots and leaves, infuse for 10 minutes and strain. Then rinse or gargle as needed.

What is this product used for?

Heal-all has been used topically (applied to the skin) in herbal medicine to:

  • help heal minor cuts and wounds
  • relieve hemorrhoids

Heal-all has also been used orally (by mouth) to help relieve:

  • diarrhea
  • hemorrhoids
  • sore throat

Heal-all can also be used as a gargle/rinse to help relieve:

  • sore throat
  • mouth irritation

What else should I be aware of?

Common side effects of heal-all when taken by mouth include allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. When applied to the skin, heal-all can cause allergic reactions.

It is unknown if heal-all interacts with any medications.

Heal-all appears to be safe for most people. If the conditions being treated with heal-all persist or worsen, contact a health care provider.
