Bronwyn Tolmie (nee Williams) - RPh, BSc.Phm, ACPR
Pharmacist/Owner
read bioOriginally from Elora, Bronwyn is a registered pharmacist and holds her Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto. Post bachelor, Bronwyn completed a Hospital Pharmacy Residency program in Windsor, ON, during which she achieved certification as an Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist.
Bronwyn has gained a passion for providing care to patients in the oncology (cancer) care setting, having practiced in the areas of palliative care and malignant hematology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Bronwyn continues to provide care in the hospital setting at Groves Memorial Community Hospital and enjoys bringing her hospital pharmacy experience to the community setting.
Patient education and medication safety through medication consultations are priorities in Bronwyn’s practice and are a few of the many ways Bronwyn contributes to the health and well-being of the Centre Wellington community.
Andrew Tolmie - RPh, BSc.Phm
Pharmacist/Owner
read bioAndrew is a registered pharmacist and holds his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto. Upon completion of his degree, Andrew practiced in a variety of independent community pharmacy and outpatient clinic settings within the Windsor- Essex region. Prior to opening Elora Apothecary, Andrew split his time as the lead pharmacist within a comprehensive outpatient community health centre (Riverside Medical Centre), as a consultant pharmacist with the Erie – St. Clair Clinic for Addictions Medicine, and as a community diabetes educator at various capacities.
Andrew brings his skills, knowledge, and experience in community level patient education initiatives to the community of Centre Wellington.
Heidi May - RPh, BSc.Phm
Pharmacist
read bioHeidi graduated in 1990 from University of Toronto with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy. She is currently a registered pharmacist in Ontario.
After working a short while in Penetanguishene after graduation, Heidi returned to the local area to continue working in community pharmacy. She worked in a number of pharmacies within the area including managing a Big V pharmacy for a short while before the purchase of the pharmacy chain by Shoppers Drug Mart.
Heidi has been thankful to work in the local community where her 3 daughters, who are now teenagers, have gone to school and where her husband works in his third-generation family business. Being involved with her churches’ activities and volunteering at the dance studio which her girls attend are two of the activities that are important to her. Heidi recently had the opportunity to go on a medical mission to Tanzania and on a mission trip to Swaziland. Likely those won’t be the last!
Her focus in pharmacy is to encourage patients’ understanding of their medications with the goals of minimizing negative consequences of medication and maximizing benefits.
Mary McKenzie – RPh, BSc.Phm
Pharmacist
read bioMary has lived and practiced pharmacy in Centre Wellington for almost 22 years. Originally from the Niagara Peninsula, Mary attended the University of Toronto completing a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy.
She worked at St. Michael’s Hospital for two years providing clinical services to the cardiology and cardiovascular surgery units. She spent the next 6 years working in clinical research and drug information for two pharmaceutical companies.
The move to Centre Wellington gave Mary the opportunity to work in community pharmacy while raising a young family. Many years later, Mary is still enjoying practicing pharmacy expanding her knowledge and skills to keep abreast of changes in the pharmacy profession.
Lauren Thompson - RPh, PharmD
Pharmacist
read bioLauren is a recent graduate from the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy PharmD program. She currently resides in Fergus but grew up in a small rural community in Huron County called Wroxeter.
Lauren currently works at both Elora Apothecary and Trailside Pharmacy, the Upper Grand FHT, and occasionally at Groves Memorial Hospital. She strives to provide compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care. Her areas of interest include chronic pain management, oncology, palliative care, and minor ailments.
Outside of work Lauren enjoys reading, hiking, and most recently, playing squash.
Cynthia Williams
Pharmacy Assistant
read bioCynthia has been proud to call Centre Wellington home for nearly 21 years. Having grown up in a much larger city, she finds a warmth and closeness of community here that she wouldn’t change for the world. She is particularly thrilled to join the Pharmasave team as a result of their local ownership and their commitment to the community. She is excited to bring her 10+ years experience in Pharmacy to the team.
Cynthia, her husband, and 3 children have been heavily involved in minor sports in Centre Wellington for years. As both players and coaches, they have represented Centre Wellington for Lacrosse, Hockey and Ringette. Cynthia and her family live in Elora and never take for granted the beauty this community offers.
Roxanne Powell
Pharmacy Assistant
read bioRoxanne’s journey in pharmacy started in high school with a part time job at a busy pharmacy in Brampton. She enjoys helping people and this guided her towards completing the Humber College Pharmacy Assistant Program where she graduated with Honors. Her path has taken her through jobs in both the retail and hospital pharmacy settings.
Her passion is working with and helping people in her community. She is excited to be part of the team at Elora Apothecary and help to serve our fantastic community.
Her and her husband moved to Fergus 5 years ago from Erin with the future plan to retire here.
Roxanne has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Next to her family, her other favourite activities outside of work include nurturing friendships, watercolour and acrylic painting, crafts, antiquing, decorating and day tripping to small towns in Ontario. Over the past years the many trips to Elora and Fergus, the love of the area and people here is what led her and her husband to choose our community as their home.
