COVID-19 VACCINES – MANITOBA

Who is eligible to receive a vaccine?

Pharmasave pharmacies are currently able to provide the AztraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to:

  • Manitobans aged 65 and older are now eligible to receive the AstraZeneca / Covishield vaccine at participating pharmacies.
  • Manitobans aged 55 to 64 with a specified high-risk condition continue to be eligible to receive the AstraZeneca/Covishield COVID-19 vaccine.
  • People with a condition in Priority List 1 should be offered immunization before those with a condition in Priority List 2. To see the priority lists, visit here.
  • Individuals receiving homecare ≤ 3 times/week OR any level of Community Living Disability Services supports (or as per family physician determination of equivalent levels of family support).
  • Household contacts of individuals with Priority 1 chronic health conditions OR designated support person(s) for personal care home residents (in the authorized age category).

Pharmasave is aware of the evolving situation with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Further investigation is taking place by stakeholders and we continue to follow the guidance of Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) and jurisdictions across Canada. Eligibility will be confirmed before vaccination. Pharmasave pharmacists are unable to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to ineligible patients even if they have an appointment.

Prepare for Your Appointment

  • You will be screened for COVID -19 symptoms and risk factors using the Manitoba Health Screening Tool. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate, do not come to the pharmacy.
  • You will be asked to complete a consent form. You can complete the consent form at home and bring it with you to the pharmacy. The consent form is available here.
  • You will be asked to wear a mask or face covering.
  • Bring your health card with you to the pharmacy.
  • Wear loose clothing with short sleeves. The vaccine will be given in your upper arm.
  • Arrive on time for your appointment and not early.
  • Limit the number of people who come to the pharmacy.

After your vaccine you will be asked to wait in the pharmacy for 15 minutes or as determined by the pharmacist.

The COVID-19 vaccine requires 2 doses. The pharmacy will provide you with information about your second dose.

The COVID-19 vaccine cannot be given within 14 days of any other vaccine. You must wait at least 28 days after your COVID-19 vaccine before getting any other vaccine.
