Registered Pharmacy Technician (Part Time or Full Time)

Elmvale Pharmasave opened in June 2018. We are located in a newly built plaza on Yonge St. beside the Tim Hortons in town. We service a rural community north of Barrie. Since we are very close to amazing beaches and are on the main highway to the beach, we see additional traffic in the summer with visitors.  Our software system is Kroll and we are paperless.

The Pharmacy Technician’s responsibilities include:

• Dispenses prescription medication and other medical products to patients under direction of licensed pharmacist.
• Receives the shipment of medications from the pharmaceutical suppliers and stocks them.
• Counts pills, labels bottles, prices, and compounds medications to prepare prescriptions for patients as directed.
• Performs administrative duties, including answering phones, receiving and inputting prescription orders, operating cash registers, and restocking inventory.
• Gathers, organizes, and assesses patient information.
• Answers patients’ questions about their medications under the supervision of the pharmacist.
• Assists in inventory maintenance of drugs.
• Maintains electronic patient information.
• Prepares blister packs.
• Performing technical checks for all the new and reorder prescriptions for clients
• Ensuring correct medication for multi-dose medication strips before final release.
• Completes patients’ sales transactions for purchase of prescription and over-the-counter medications as well as other pharmaceutical products.

• Mathematical Skills • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to communicate effectively to maximize accuracy in the delivery of patient care.
• Experience with Kroll Dispensary software (If you are not proficient with Kroll but are willing to learn, training can be arranged).
• Minimum 1 year experience as a pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician required
• Registration as a Pharmacy technician with Ontario College of Pharmacists required
