Pharmacy Services Manager – Ontario

Summary

This position is a terrific opportunity for a pharmacist who is passionate about helping shape the future of pharmacy practice and patient care.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Pharmacy & Professional Affairs, the Pharmacy Services Manager is responsible for driving and optimizing pharmacy practice, services and patient care initiatives while also providing leadership and coaching to our members to ensure our stores’ long-term success and viability. In addition, to working with the rest of the pharmacy team, the Pharmacy Services Manager will work collaboratively with other departments with a focus on achieving shared goals and objectives.

Location

As a field employee, the candidate will support stores throughout Ontario. When not on the road, the candidate works from their home office. Travel to our Region office in Markham will be required with occasional travel to our Region office in Nova Scotia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with our owners and staff to influence their adoption of pharmacy practice and operational best practices including services workflow and technology to support patient care.
  • Actively seek out new and innovative ways to improve pharmacy services efficiencies and processes including but not limited to quality assurance and risk management strategies.
  • Support the execution and implementation of National and Regional pharmacy programs and initiatives.
  • Act as a professional resource to the Region Team, owners, and staff, providing advice, support, and consultation on patient care opportunities and issues.
  • Work with the region pharmacy team to develop and enhance region specific tools and resources to support overall pharmacy efficiency, patient experience, the integration of technology, and innovative solutions in pharmacy practice and operations.
  • Develop tools and resources to support our owners and staff to optimize the full scope of practice for their pharmacy team with special attention to publicly funded services.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to leverage each pharmacy’s potential growth & financial sustainability within its given marketplace.
  • Provide strategic input to support a new store/renovation design and the new store/change of ownership process.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure alignment with shared goals and objectives, including organizational goals.
  • External industry engagement and attendance at educational events, professional conferences, fostering relationships with key stakeholders (i.e., pharmacy schools, professional associations) and other healthcare providers.
  • Stay current with the regulatory landscape including but not limited to pharmacy practice, primary care, privacy legislation and patient rights.
  • Contribute to fostering and mentoring a high-performing region pharmacy team supporting their professional development, a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Manage escalated patient feedback/complaints to the Region Office which require pharmacist/pharmacy expertise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • BSc Pharmacy or PharmD degree required. Part A Ontario-license.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ community pharmacy experience with a strong focus on direct patient care, experience with implementing pharmacy services.
  • Working knowledge of the Kroll pharmacy management system is an asset.
  • Strong project, organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmacy industry, issues, and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and group presentations.
  • A passion for the success of pharmacy, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.
  • Ability to travel throughout the province including overnight stays and occasional travel to the Atlantic provinces.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Ontario driver’s license.

Compensation

Base salary of $100,000-110,000, annual bonus program, RRSP match program, comprehensive benefits package, and vehicle allowance. Work-related expenses including gas and accommodation are reimbursed.
