Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Pharmacy Assistant/Technician Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, packaging, and dispensing prescriptions with accuracy
  • Maintain workflow efficiency at drop-off, data entry, filling, and pick-up stations
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to patients and caregivers
  • Process third-party billing, resolve insurance rejections, and manage patient profiles
  • Support compliance/blister packaging and medication synchronization programs
  • Prepare compounds and non-sterile products following pharmacy guidelines
  • Manage inventory, receive orders, restock shelves, and monitor medication expiry dates
  • Assist with monitoring voicemail, faxes, and electronic prescription inboxes
  • Collaborate with pharmacists to support medication reviews (MedsChecks), immunizations, and patient consultations
  • Uphold all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards set by the OCP
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and patient-focused environment

Qualifications

For Pharmacy Assistants

  • Previous community pharmacy experience preferred
  • Strong computer and Kroll system skills
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities

For Registered Pharmacy Technicians

  • Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Demonstrated accuracy and proficiency in dispensing and technical checking
  • Experience with compliance packaging or compounding considered an asset

2 years dispensary experience preferred
