1 ITEM EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR FIRST AID KIT – FREE NALOXONE KIT

Firstly, does your First Aid Kit include a Naloxone Kit?  Because it is important to have a First Aid Kit in your home.  Pharmasave is recommending adding a Naloxone Kit to your First Aid Kit.

Secondly, why have a Naloxone Kit in your First Aid Kit?  Because the incidence of opioid-related drug overdose deaths is on the rise nationally, reaching the magnitude of what the Canadian government is calling a public health emergency.  Pharmasave is urging Ontarians to update their First Aid Kits.

What is a Naloxone Kit?  Naloxone is a non-prescription medicine that, when taken soon after an overdose, can save a life.  The kit is available in both an injectable and nasal spray form of the medication.  They are simple to administer and work quickly to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, there were 4,460 opioid-related deaths last year, with 1,471 of those occurring in Ontario alone. Seventy-three per cent of accidental opioid-related deaths involved fentanyl or fentanyl analogues.  To find out more: Government of Canada.

Most importantly, how do I get a Naloxone Kit for my First Aid Kit?  Speak with your pharmacist about an opioid drug overdose rescue kit – called a Naloxone kit available free of charge at your local pharmacy to Ontarians with a health card through the Ontario Naloxone Pharmacy Program.

Leonard Chan, Pharmacist/Owner at Inverary Pharmasave, recently participated in an interview with Global TV Kingston this morning spreading the word about the importance of having a Naloxone Kit nearby. Watch the interview here: https://lnkd.in/dEU_e5Y

Pharmasave is urging everyone to drop in and see your pharmacist, speak to them about the kit, and potentially help save a life in an emergency.

Talk to your Pharmasave pharmacist to learn more.
