National Category Manager

Position Title: National Category Manager

Location: Pharmasave Drugs (National) Ltd. (Langley, BC)

Type: Full time Beginning June 2024

Pharmasave is one of Canada’s leading independent community pharmacies. Founded in 1981 and now with more than 860 stores across Canada, Pharmasave has focused on building a national platform of community- based retail outlets designed to provide exceptional patient-centered healthcare, medication advice, drug store products and customer service. We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented National Category Manager who enjoys making a difference, being part of a team and takes pride in their career to work in our fast-paced National office in Langley, BC.

Reporting to the Senior National Category Manager, this hybrid role (work from home on select days) will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of product category strategies, conducting market research and analysis, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to optimize product performance and profitability. This role also monitors and reports on category trends and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the growth, sales and profitability of product categories.
  • Coordinates flyer and promotional activity for each category.
  • Negotiates new contracts and vendor spend agreements.
  • Analyzes the results of category performance using Business Intelligence data, vendor business reviews and Nielsen data.
  • Develops and updates planograms in conjunction with the space management company.
  • Assists stores to maximize retail sales and margins through the Recommended Retails Pricing program.
  • Supports stores with new product opportunities.
  • Communicates with vendors, office teams, regions and member groups.

Skills, Experience & Education:

  • Category Management experience.
  • High degree of accuracy from a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Critical thinking / Problem solving skills.
  • Learning quickly in fast-paced environments.
  • Self-motivation and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.
  • Previous experience in the retail sector is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 12 years of general education or equivalent.

Salary Range:

$85,000 – $90,000 per year plus a competitive bonus structure and employer paid benefits including health, dental and retirement savings matching.
